Part II: 86,400 Seconds…

Lost time is never found again.   Benjamin Franklin

We must use time as a tool, not as a crutch.   John F. Kennedy

How many times in the last week or two have you said or heard someone say: “Where did the time go? It went so fast.” For some parents and students alike during the pandemic, it may feel like time is dragging on forever, but why as we get older does it seem as if time goes faster?

American Idol 2009 winner Kris Allen’s song “Live Like We’re Dying” says:

We only got 86,400 seconds in a day to

Turn it all around or to throw it all away

We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em while we got the chance to say

Gotta live like we’re dying…

Songwriter Chris Rice, puts it:

Every day is a bank account

And time is our currency

So no one’s rich, nobody’s poor

We get twenty-four hours each

So how are you gonna spend

Will you invest or squander

… Every day is a gift you’ve been given,

Make the most of the time every minute you’re living

Few things are irreplaceable. We can replace, rebuild, redo, reinvent, reclaim, restore. But we can not recreate time. May we count our seconds, minutes, and days and use them wisely.
